RUPHOS – Rugged Photonics Systems GmbH was established in 2023 as a spin-off from the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology in Aachen, Germany (ILT). Our core business focuses on the development and manufacturing of mounted optical components, complete optical systems, and consulting services for clients in the space optics sector.

Our product range includes mounted passive optics such as mirrors or lenses, advanced optical elements like Pockels Cells or Faraday Isolators, as well as comprehensive optical systems including telescopes, reference cavities, or lasers.

Utilizing the soldering technology developed by Fraunhofer ILT, our optical mounts and systems offer unprecedented stability across a broad temperature range and high resistance to mechanical loads. Additionally, they are free from organic materials to prevent molecular contamination issues in space applications.

Thanks to our strategic partnership with LAYERTEC, a leading German manufacturer of laser optics, RUPHOS is capable of providing high-quality, space-suitable optics for numerous satellite missions, customized to meet our clients‘ needs and available promptly.
